Triassica is pleased to present a rare partial Pteranodon wing from North America! Dating to the Late Cretaceous the wing was discovered in the Niobrara Chalk formation, Kansas. The fossil displays in artificial matrix measuring 14" x 15" (36cm x 38cm). The top bone measures 12" (30cm) - the ulna and radius are to the left. Identification between the species P. longiceps and P. sternbergi (both found in the Kansas Chalk) is not possible in the absence of an associated skull (post cranial remains of the species being non diagnostic). Clearly visible from the super large photos, the fragile delicate nature of these pneumatic bones is evident. Equally evident is the fact that the bones have NO restoration whatsoever - only being preserved by laying in an artificial matrix (due to very thin bone structure). P. longiceps and P. sternbergi had a skull of some 4
feet long and a wingspan of 24 feet!
