Dating to the Cretaceous, this  claw has been positively identified as Deinonychus antirrhopus and orginates from Hell creek, Montana, USA.

Incredibly rare, this is only the 2nd known fossil from this famous dinosaur, ever offered to private collectors.

Arguably THE most important dinosaur discovery - Deinonychus revolutionized previous opinions of the dinosauria.

Fewer than 10 individuals have ever been found since the intial discovery in 1931 by Barnum Brown - Ostram & Meyer designated the name D. antirrhopus in their 1964 paper.

Ostram concluded that Deinonychus was an agile, ferocious predator using all four limbs to subdue its prey.

The infamous 'killer claw' description of the hind foot 2nd digit, originates from this species.

Amazingly, this claw is from a juvenile - sub adults of any species are significantly more rare than adults.

Found intact and having NO repair or restoration (none being necessary), the claw is from the hind foot.

The blood grooves are very well preserved (deeper than the photos suggest), extending to the claw tip, which is wonderfully complete.

Blood vessel pores are evident over the whole of the surface.

The proximal articulation is intact with the edges clear of matrix.

One of THE most rare fossils in the world - this claw has everything - intact, complete, with no repair or restoration!
