Tyrannosaurus rex - ulna
(forearm)
Dating to the Cretaceous, from Hell Creek, Montana, USA.
Known for its' massive size, HUGE dagger teeth & remarkably small
forelimbs, T. rex is THE most desirable dinosaur species
representing excellent investment potential.
The latest complete T. rex sold for $8.4 million.
THE ULNA
Exposed and weathering on the surface, a Tyrannosaurus rex
dinosaur skeleton lay trampled underfoot by cattle, oblivious
to the priceless treasure awaiting discovery.
Parts of the massive beast lay beneath the ground - various
elements of the dinosaur however were visible strewn across the
surface.
Some of the priceless bones had already been destroyed before
excavation by the changeable, unforgiving weather and cattle hooves.
By the time the 'King of dinosaurs' was found, the skull
was smashed with fragments littered over the arid ground and the
skeleton, disarticulate.
MIRACULOUSLY PRESERVED
Remains of this highly sought after
treasure trove, revealed a partial adult Tyrannosaurus rex including
skull remnants, teeth, limbs, claws, ribs, vertebrae and more.
Amongst the debris of the massive fossilized beast was a near
complete bone from the dinosaurs' forearm.
With excellent preservation of the proximal articulation with the
humerus, this stunning and unspeakably rare bone has fossilized with
wonderful solid preservation.
Gorgeous, rich, almost black coloration is offset by the lighter
hues of the outer layers of bone.
The rarity of this piece is unquestionable - the only one
available in the
world for collector purchase and from THE most desired dinosaur!
TYRANNOSAURUS REX
Recent studies have proven that the forearm of T. rex was used in
the transition from rest to a bipedal posture.
The dinosaurs' weight, at rest, was supported by the pubic 'boot'
- transition from rest to standing was facilitated by the forearms.
Without the forearms to provide the necessary stabilization and
thrust, Tyrannosaurus rex could not recover from a resting position.
In short - the apparently useless 'puny' forelimbs, were in fact,
essential to the dinosaurs' survival.
Quite simply, if a break occurred to any elements (including
ulna) of just one forelimb, it is unlikely the dinosaur could
survive, being unable to ever recover from rest!
Now available at a fraction of the cost of the $8.4 million
for the most recent complete T. rex!
