This spectacular Psittacosaur dinosaur, was prepared by ourselves in the United Kingdom to the highest standard!

Dating to the Cretaceous, this dinosaur was discovered in the Jiufotang Formation, Meileyingenzi, from the famous Liaoning Province, N.E. China.

This superb example measures 14" (35.5cm) in length.

No restoration of any nature, no fabricated elements and guaranteed 100% genuine.

This stunning nestling baby Psittacosaur was prepared in the UK by Triassica completely from the original virgin matrix!

This is a stunningly preserved, rare nestling baby dinosaur in the exact position in which it tragically died.

Rarely preserved features include attached ribs, prepubis, distal ends of the lower jaw, complete and full dentition (lower dentition only visible from inside the skull), and intact BRAIN CASE!

Incredibly, we have prepared the brain case and removed matrix from both above and beneath the bone - the brain case is for the 1st time EVER, exposed to reveal the 0.3mm thin bone!

The skull is completely intact with jugal (cheek) horns, beak, distal ends of lower jaw (which rarely preserve), full dentition, complete intact exposed brain case, opened foramen magnum (aperture for the spinal cord).

The baby has NO RESTORATION, NO FABRICATION, NO ARTIFICIAL ELEMENTS OR COMPONENTS, NO ENHANCEMENT WHATSOEVER!

Matrix has been removed from above, beneath and around the ribs, limbs, skull, neck, tail, scapula, tibia, fibula, pelvic bones whilst leaving the baby in situ firmly attached to its matrix.

The babies left fore and hind limbs are tucked into the body, whilst the right limbs are spread away from the body - the pelvis separated from the thoracic vertebrae - indicative of sedimentary flow prior to solidification.

We have strengthened the matrix, filled cracks in the matrix to ensure this stunning fossil does not suffer damage due to matrix failure.

PSITTACOSAUR SKULLS

Commonly, Psittacosaur skulls which have been prepared in China, are made from an oblong piece of rock, with bone glued onto the rock into the form of a skull.

Frequently, such 'skulls' are fabricated from resin, matrix & glue, with a minor amount of bone - if the skull looks perfectly symmetric, lacking in fine detail - it may be a fabrication.

We prepare the skulls of our Psittacosaurs here in the UK in our studio with 3D stereo microscopy, surgical scalpels, dental tools - they are NOT fabricated, miscellaneous bits of bone glued to rock - beware when purchasing from non specialist dealers and especially specimens offered direct from China - the skull may NOT be what it appears!
